Grafenwalde-Grossherzogtum Hessen

 Building the layout-the inspiration

Only the trackplan was inspired by the Kleinbahn AG Rennsteig-Frauenwald, the remainder of the station is typical of the Hesse region 40kms north east of Frankfurt am Main.  The station building is based on Reichelsheim 61203 (Wetterau), it is a type of building, that was used at many stations in former 'Grossherzogtum Hessen' branchlines. The line is still in use and today is operated by the BLE (Butzbach-Licher Eisenbahn) on behalf of the DB however freight traffic no longer exists.

Kibri's model of Reichelsheim is fairly accurate, except for the colours of the brick and a slightly reduced scale. The orientation of the goods shed and the main building has been switched so that it resembles Gau Bischofsheim more than Reichelsheim, see below

This layout is dedicated to my dearly missed chum, Ewald Rasch, who cheerfully took me for journeys across Bavaria in search of trains. Ewald was a kind and generous friend.
